On July 6, Tuesday, Gyulai Istv\u00e1n Memorial – Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix as the most prestigious athletics competition in Hungary and the region, which belongs to the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series, will be held in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r.<\/p>\n
The Grand Prix, as a major international sporting event recurring annually in addition to Formula 1 and the Women’s Handball Final Four, will once again be attended by World and Olympic champion athletes, including the biggest Hungarian stars in the sport.<\/p>\n
The Gyulai Istv\u00e1n Memorial, as a prestigious international competition, is also an important stop for Hungarian athletes preparing for the Budapest23 World Athletics Championships, who can thus compete at home with the biggest international stars, hopefully in front of a Hungarian spectators. Based on the current pandemic situation, the organizers will decide whether to hold this year\u2019s competition in the presence of fans or behind closed doors.<\/p>\n
According to the organizers’ plans for this year’s competition, spectators will be able to follow 20 international events, so due to the expanded program, a two-day star parade is expected again. The almost unmissable Hungarian audience favorite male and female hammer throw will be held the previous day, July 5, while the other competitions will be held on July 6.<\/p>\n

In terms of great results, it is reassuring, on the one hand, that this will be the last big competition before the Olympics for many stars, and on the other hand, the spectacular development of Hungarian athletics, which it has shown in the recent period. In the winter season our young athletes broke records that had been in place for more than 30 years, and a 21-person Hungarian national team, which had not been seen for decades, made it to this year’s European Indoor Championships in Torun, where they reached six finals in the extremely tight field and the sport was also enriched with a bronze medal by X\u00e9nia Krizs\u00e1n.<\/p>\n
