In this series, we will introduce the athletes who have already confirmed their intent to participate in the 11th Gyulai Istv\u00e1n Memorial \u2013 Hungarian Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

\"\"Let us start with the Olympic Champions!<\/p>\n

400 metres Olympic gold medallist of Rio de Janeiro Shaunae Miller-Uibo<\/a> will once again come to Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r to compete in the 200 metres (PB 21.74). He set the 200 metres meet record (22.18) in 2019 and broke the meet record in the 400 metres (49.53) in 2018. Aside from being an Olympic Champion, she is a loving wife according to her social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

American Justin Gatlin<\/a><\/strong> (PB 9.74), who won gold in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, will also return. He currently leads the world rankings in the 100 metres and is a four-time outdoor and two-time indoor World Champion. The ageless American beat Usain Bolt on the way to his World Championship gold in 2017. He finished second in 2019 in Doha, but won with the 4X100 American relay team. He is currently preparing for the season.<\/a><\/p>\n

Reigning Olympic Champion of the men\u2019s discus Christoph Harting<\/a> (PB 68.37) will also compete in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r, but he will not have an easy task as the field will be very strong.<\/p>\n

World record holder of the 100 metres hurdles Kendra Harrison<\/a> (PB 12.20) will also be here. Keni has won an indoor 60 metres World Championship and is a 14-time Diamond-League winner and holder of the meet record (12.28) in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r. No wonder she like competing here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

London\u2019s Olympic silver medallist Yelena Sokolova<\/a> (PB: 7.07) will compete in the long jump. In 2012 she won five Diamond League competitions and is enjoying a renaissance as she won in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r in 2019. She will go up against World Championship silver medallist and indoor European Champion Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk<\/a> (PB 6.93) who is ranked second in the world.<\/p>\n

\"\"We are looking forward to seeing discus World Champion Daniel St\u00e5hl<\/a><\/strong> (PB 71.86) who won the Grand Prix the past two years and will compete in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r for the fifth time. He is currently leading the world rankings and can squat with 300 kilograms<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s 3000 metres promises to be a great race. Two-time World Champion of the 5000 metres Muktar Edris<\/a> (PB 7:32.31) will go up against compatriot, World Championship fourth place finisher Telahun Haile Bekele<\/a> and Ethiopian Champion Berihu Aregawi<\/a> (PB 7:29.74) who is second on the world rankings. Kenyan U18 World Champion Richard Yator<\/a> (7:45.78) will also be here.<\/p>\n

We are happy to have Italian Gianmarco Tamberi<\/a> (PB 2.39) in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r again. The indoor World Champion high jumper and outdoor European Champion is a crowd favourite for his performances and his appearance as well<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Olympic seventh place finishing hammer thrower Hanna Malyshchyk<\/a> is also planning to participate. She won the Winter Throwing Cup twice and the Team European Championship once. She will have to beat Joanna Fiodorow<\/a> among others, who is also an Olympic seventh place finisher and won the silver medal at the World Championships in Doha.<\/p>\n

Africa Champion Emmanuel Matadi<\/a> (PB 10.01) is set to compete in the 100 metres. He won the Hungarian Grand Prix series in Tatab\u00e1nya beating Alonso Edward<\/a> and Michael Rodgers<\/a>. Alonso will also come to Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r, but will compete in the 200 metres (PB 19.81). The World Championship silver medallist is also a nine-time Diamond League Winner. Isiah Young<\/a>, who ran a personal best a couple of weeks ago in Clermont (9.89) will also participate in the 100 metres.<\/p>\n

American Shamier Little<\/a>, who won the silver medal at the World Championships in Beijing, will come as well. The 400 metres hurdler is a two-time U20 World Champion and four-time Diamond League winner. She has already clocked 53.12 this year and has a sub 50 second time in the 400 metres already.<\/p>\n

Indoor shot-put European Champion Tom\u00e1\u0161 Stan\u011bk<\/a> (PB 22.17) is coming too. The four-time National Champion does not hold back during trainings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Among others, he will have to compete with World Championship bronze medallist Filip Mihaljevi\u0107<\/a>\u00a0 (PB 21.94).<\/p>\n

\"\"The women\u2019s javelin throw will have an extremely competitive field as well. Two European Champions will go head-to-head as Tatsiana Khaladovich<\/a> (PB 67.47) and Christin Hussong<\/a> (PB 69.19 will both attend the event. They will go up against Maryna Andrejczyk<\/a> (PB 71.40) and Lithuanian European Championship bronze medallist Liveta Jasiunaite<\/a> (PB 63.98). We also expect Pan American Games winner Elizabeth Gleadle<\/a> (PB 64.83). They will be joined by Hungarians R\u00e9ka Szil\u00e1gyi<\/a> (62.45) who finished fourth at the Universiade, European Throwing Cup ninth place finisher Ang\u00e9la Moravcsik<\/a> (PB 59.64) and Fanni K\u00f6v\u00e9r<\/a>, who just recently broke the U18 National Record with 57.39 metres. Jasiunaite, K\u00f6v\u00e9r, Moravcsik and Szil\u00e1gyi met at the first stop of the Hungarian Grand Prix series in Tatab\u00e1nya, that time Szil\u00e1gyi came out on top beating Jasiunaite and Moravcsik.<\/p>\n

On of our biggest talents, European and World Champion bronze medallist Bence Hal\u00e1sz<\/a><\/strong> (PB 79.88) is getting better and better after undergoing knee surgery in January and is going to try to go over 80 metres in the hammer throw.<\/p>\n

M\u00e1t\u00e9 Koroknai<\/a> will face very tough competition in the 400 metres, but he will not be scared as he already beat David Kendziera once in Tatab\u00e1nya.<\/p>\n

Elliot Giles<\/a> will join an extremely strong 800 metres field. He is a five-time National Champion and European Championship bronze medallist and is famous for breaking the the British record in February (1:43.63), which was, previously held by Sebastian Coe. Only Wilson Kipketer ever ran faster indoors.<\/p>\n
