Anita Wlodarczyk, a returning guest of the Gyulai Istv\u00e1n Memorial \u2013 Athletics Hungarian Grand Prix, is forced to miss the 2022 competition due to a heroic act.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Polish world record holder in hammer throw was one of the seven star athletes whose participation was preiously announced by the organizers. However, the legend who won the Memorial in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2021 will not be able to be there this time on 8 August in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The three-time Olympic, four-time world and four-time European champion athlete suffered a muscle injury in unusual circumstances just one month ago.<\/p>\n

A car thief was trying to steal her car when she intervened. “A lot of work awaits me during the rehabilitation… I will do everything to be able to return next year,” said the 36-year-old classic, who has to miss not only the most prestigious one-day event in Hungary, but also the World Championships in Oregon and the European Championships in Munich.<\/p>\n
