Joining the already world-class men’s hammer throw field is Mykhaylo Kokhan of Ukraine, Olympic bronze medallist and recent winner of the hammer throw at the European Athletics Team Championships in Madrid, where he dominated his event. In the shot put, Sweden’s Wictor Petterson, silver medallist at the European Indoor Championships, will also be competing.

The men’s high jump will feature three confirmed contenders. Among them is Czech European indoor silver medallist Jan Štefela, who recently secured maximum points for his country with a commanding win at the European Athletics Team Championships. His main challengers will include Ukraine’s European indoor champion Oleh Doroshchuk, as well as Hungary’s own Gergely Török, Universiade bronze medallist, who will have the home crowd behind him. In the pole vault, Australia’s world bronze medallist Kurtis Marschall is expected to deliver a standout performance.

The men’s 3000 metres will see the participation of Oceania record holder Stewart McSweyn of Australia, alongside India’s Gulveer Singh, a two-time Asian champion and current short track Asian record holder in the 5000 metres. In the 800 metres, Dutch European indoor champion Samuel Chapple is set to compete, while in the 100 metres, Hungary’s Dominik Illovszky will line up to the delight of the home fans.

The countdown is on!
