van Niekerk and Simbine are also competing in Budapest

We can confidently say that the world’s best athletes, whether returning or visiting for the first time, regularly come to our country. Nothing underscores this statement better than the latest announcement from the organizers of the Gyulai István Memorial – Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix. In two weeks, the legend continues as one of the world’s top one-day athletics meets kicks off on August 12, now joined by even more superstars on the start list.

Among the competitors at the National Athletic Center in Budapest will be one of the sport’s most popular sprinters and the men’s 400-meter world record holder, South African Wayde van Niekerk. To the great delight of the fans, we will once again welcome his compatriot, the 100-meter specialist Akani Simbine, who also holds the meet record. Challenging him will be Ghanaian Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, who arrives with the fourth-best 100-meter time in the world this year. On the women’s 100-meter hurdles, Jamaican Ackera Nugent will compete; she is not only her country’s record holder but also proud of her indoor world championship bronze medal.

Let’s meet on August 12 at the National Athletic Center to celebrate athletics! Tickets are selling fast, so be sure to grab yours as soon as possible!

Tickets are available via Eventim.
