More world champions join the line-up for the Gyulai István Memorial

On August 12, Budapest’s National Athletic Center will host the Gyulai István Memorial – Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix, and the organizers have recently announced a new wave of world-class athletes set to compete. Just a couple of days after unveiling a star-studded roster, even more top-tier names have been confirmed.

Among the standout participants of this World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series’ event will be two of America’s pole vaulting greats: Sam Kendricks and Christopher Nilsen. Kendricks is a two-time world champion and Olympic silver medallist, while Nilsen boasts Olympic and World Championship silver medals – both athletes have personal bests exceeding the six-meter mark.

In men’s shot put, fans can look forward to seeing Joe Kovacs, the two-time world champion and three-time Olympic silver medallist, who is a crowd favorite and proud of his Hungarian heritage.

The women’s long jump promises plenty of excitement as well, with the participation of American indoor world champion Claire Bryant and Serbia’s Milica Gardašević, a two-time winner of the Gyulai Memorial.

The women’s pole vault will also feature an elite field of international stars. Competing will be Great Britain’s Molly Caudery, the indoor world champion with a personal best of 4.92 meters, placing her among the global elite. She’ll be joined by Slovenia’s Tina Šutej, a multiple-time indoor European silver medallist and consistent member of the world’s top ranks for many years. From New Zealand, Eliza McCartney – Olympic bronze medallist in 2016 and indoor world silver medallist – will also compete, boasting a personal best of 4.94 meters.

With less than two months to go, the legend continues! Organizers have already announced several world-class participants, with more big names expected to be confirmed soon.
