The legend continues – 100 days until the Gyulai István Memorial in Budapest
As announced at the official press conference on April 7, the 15th edition of the Gyulai István Memorial – Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix will take place on August 12, 2025, at the National Athletic Center in Budapest. The popularity of the event – thanks to the electric atmosphere, packed stands, and unforgettable moments of previous editions – is clearly reflected by the fact that over 3,000 tickets have already been sold since the announcement. With 100 days to go, it’s safe to say that we can look forward to one of the most anticipated one-day meetings in athletics this year.
This is backed up by a stellar lineup of global stars already confirmed to compete. Among them: the 1st in WA overall ranking, 2x Olympic champion, 2x world champion, world record holder pole vault phenomenon, Armand Duplantis; in the 400m hurdles, Olympic and world champion, Femke Bol; youngest world champion in hammer throw history, Ethan Katzberg; and two-time Olympic long jump gold medalist, Miltiadis Tentoglou. And the list is far from final – the organizers are actively negotiating with more top-tier athletes, with further exciting announcements expected soon from Attila Spiriev, sports director of the meeting.
At the same venue that hosted the 2023 World Athletics Championships, fans will of course also be able to cheer on Hungary’s own elite athletes. These include Olympic silver medalist, 2x world bronze and 2x European silver medalist, Bence Halász; this year’s European indoor champion, Attila Molnár – who also placed fourth and fifth at Indoor Worlds and claimed bronze with the 4×400m relay; Luca Kozák, national record-holder in the 100m hurdles and silver medalist at the European Championships; and Boglárka Takács, two-time U23 European silver medalist and indoor European finalist, who has also made it to the Olympic and World Championships semi-finals.
Part of World Athletics’ prestigious Continental Tour Gold series, the Gyulai István Memorial is a cornerstone of consistency in the global athletics calendar – and justifiably ranked among the best and most competitive one-day meetings in the world. The 2025 edition is being organized by the National Event Management Agency in cooperation with the Hungarian Athletics Association.
Nineteen international events will be held at the National Athletic Center, as follows:
